Custom 1/12 scale felted animals on a movable metal wire armature

My love for miniatures, animals and dolls has always been very strong. Drawing, sculpting and animation are also part of my passions. Since I am an eternal kid inside, I like to move and play with my miniatures which lead me to learn needle felting so that I can make movable scupltures on a metal armature. My sculptures can take many positions and are made from a mix of wool and silk. They are 1/12 scale and are made to fit in any dollhouse scene. I simply love to do custom sculptures of people's pets and am always looking forward to a new challenge. I also started to make ball jointed dolls which has been a passion of mine since I can remember. I am open for commissions, please contact me should you have any questions or comments.

Fun with miniature knitting

Winter is here, snow is everywhere and that makes me want to knit! I figured my doll will need a nice warm hat for the occasion. This is my first miniature hat and what a blast of fun that was! It is like a fever, I just want to make a whole bunch of those... I can't wait to be good enough to be able to make a sweater (still too complicated for me right now)! I can hardly imagine how hard it would be to make tiny gloves like the ones made for the movie Coraline... Unreal...
Well I wanted to share my first try on a 1/12 scale hat so here are a few pics.

I made the hat to match an outfit I bought from Lise Ashby. I couldn't get the exact colours but it still goes well with it.

Okay, maybe I should get back to working on my felted animals now... After I do a few more hats...

A trade with Judy Blondell!

For those of you who are familiar with this blog, you already know how much I admire Judy Blondell's miniatures...

When I went to the miniature show of Toronto last weekend I had the chance to talk to Liz of Grandpa's dollhouse who remebered how crasy I am over Judith's work. She told me that she was going to be at the show on sunday and that I could meet her. I went crasy! Just to make me crasier, she informs me that she was also interested in making a trade with me because she really liked the little felted Shih-tzu that Liz bought from me. It was too good to be truth and I could barely contain my joy. Good thing we were staying the night and that I had a couple of my felted animals with me! Next time I won't forget the business cards...

The next day I met her and she was soooo sweet. She showed me the shoes that she had brought with her. All were amazing but two of them were exactly the type I liked but I was too excited to even think. I showed her my felted animals and very fast, she took one of my long haired Shih-tzu and put in my hands two gorgeous pair of shoes... And guess what, they were the ones I really liked! How did she know? I could not control myself and did an embarassing happy dance... Hope she didn't think I was too crazy...

Here are my newest additions to my Blondell collection:

If it wasn't for Liz, none of this would have happened, and I am very gratefull! She is simply the greatest! Thanks Liz!

I was talking to Judy about the possibility of making a replica of my wedding pumps and my husband's shoes and she agreed to make them! I can't wait! I mentionned that one of my projects was to make a replica of my wedding dress and she said that she could do that too. Wow, I can't wait to see how beautifull it will all be!! What a great miniature filled day! Now gotta go back to make more felties!

Miniature 1/12 scale needle felted replica of Mollie the Shorkie dog

This commision was fo a Shih-tzu and Yorkshire Terrier mix. This was a very challenging one. Mollie looked 100% Shih-tzu from certain angles and when she turns around, she becomes the spitting image of a Yorkshire. Here she is!

And here is the real Mollie.

A 1/12 scale miniature needle felted Yorkshire Terrier dog portrait of Abby

Here is my latest commission.
This one is a version of Abby, a beautifull Yorkshire Terrier. My little needle felted friend will have the pleasure of traveling all the way to New Brunswick to meet her new family. Here are some pictures of her. I knitted a colar to add more detail and made her little Acadian scarf because I though it was adorable. Here she is!

Here is the real Abby

Here she is meeting some of the other little felted friends.

Is there a family resemblance?? Mmm I wonder...

Group shot! Say treats!
