Custom 1/12 scale felted animals on a movable metal wire armature

My love for miniatures, animals and dolls has always been very strong. Drawing, sculpting and animation are also part of my passions. Since I am an eternal kid inside, I like to move and play with my miniatures which lead me to learn needle felting so that I can make movable scupltures on a metal armature. My sculptures can take many positions and are made from a mix of wool and silk. They are 1/12 scale and are made to fit in any dollhouse scene. I simply love to do custom sculptures of people's pets and am always looking forward to a new challenge. I also started to make ball jointed dolls which has been a passion of mine since I can remember. I am open for commissions, please contact me should you have any questions or comments.

The Toronto miniature show

I finally got to convince my very sweet husband to drive us all the way to Toronto to attend the miniature show. We had a blast! Everything was perfect and what a view we had from the hotel...
It was a real romantic gettaway. This was taken from our room.

This was my first time attending the Toronto show and what a day! Got to see gorgeous miniatures and to meet talented creative minds! Here were some of those talented people that impressed me quite a lot.

Gary Wright
Wow, he does bronze sculptures in miniatures!!! Gorgeous work, it was hard to get my eyes away from his gorgeous lamps which I forgot to take pictures of...Snif!
There was this awesome miniature figure of a women with an ivory face. I was drooling over that one... I did end up getting one of his sculpture though, a beautifull red dancer.

Here she is:

I also loved the miniature pottery done by Mary-Luce Pelletier. Really nice pieces. This is the piece I brought home. I just need a nice plant to put in it now.

Thanks to my sweet husband who was very lucky to win a door prize (well I am the lucky one really), I could walk home with those pieces from the same artist too. Yeah!
This piece is another one I really liked. Marie-Luce was interested in a trade with me so I can't wait till next year!

My mind was also blown away by Karl Blindheim. His animals are amazing but I was stunned at the expressions and faces of the dolls that he was working on. What raw talent! He tells me he sculpts people's faces while he rides the bus. This is mind blowing (My husband's used to do sketches of people in the bus, here is a link to my husband's blog if you want to see: http://ravendasketch.blogspot.ca).

It really shows that he has thoroughly observed the different faces and that there is a lot of work in all the sculptures he does. He is super kind too. He agreed to show me the dolls he was working on although there were still work in progress. Here they are:

Can't wait to see his finished dolls!!
Here is a picture of his cute animals, I love the one completly to the left of the picture :

Here is a little find that looks kinda like my little dog so I had to take it home... It is so darling and tiny.

I also stumbled uppon something I was hoping to find for quite a while. Silk! 100% real silk in brown colours. I don't dye my own silk when I make my animals and being allergic to wool it makes it hard to get a nice colour variety and I was in real need of brown shades and lucky-lucky, I found some. I spoke to the lady and the man that were holding the stand about my quest and they were kind enough to bring those the next day. She told me that she had clown colours so I was really happily surprised to see all three shades I was looking for.

Yeah!
Now I can make even more little felted animals!
All in all it was an amazing show and I had a lot of fun with my husband! Can't wait for next year!
